On planet Cybertron, home of the sentient Transformers, two great factions have warred for millions of years: the peace-loving Cybertrons and the destruction-seeking Destrons. Following the events of the previous series, Cybertron's original supreme commander Convoy is revived, and the Cybertrons establish new headquarters on planet Athenia. In the year 2011, warriors called Headmasters — civilians who fled Cybertron's war centuries earlier and evolved on the harsh planet Master to transform into heads that "head-on" combine with separate Transtector bodies — return and join both sides of the renewed conflict, escalating the war to a new scale.
